Allan: My dad also bought a new H in 51. How well do you remember some of the details of that tractor? Our H had the same front wheels as SH and 300 and IH disc brakes. He also bought a wide front, the old type with tye rods out front. We had to make modifications as we went to install the wide front. Four years later he bought a 300 Farmall and we really didn't see the horsepower difference some speak of on here. Yes the 300 had live PTO and TA, but put it on the same plow, disk or cultivator we had used on the H and the 300 didn't run away with it. My opinion, some of those SH upgrades got into a few of the last H's. We always pulled a No. 8 - 2x14 plow, in a very light sandy loam. I know what you mean about the alfalfa roots, often you could hear the sound of them snaping above the tractor. The alfalfa roots sure took the friskiness out of a frisky young team of horses, when plowing.

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
