I just got the '51 Super A moved from Albuquerque to the Texas Coast. It ran great when it was loaded on the trailer, but it is surging now that it is in it's new home environment. The ol' tractor sat for several months, but started right up when it was loaded. When I started it to get it off the trailer, it smoked for a bit at idle, blue smoke, like a light blow by, then cleared up. I had trouble keeping it running, it surged some then a belt broke and I had to shut it off. I'll be getting a service and owner's manual, but in the mean time, anybody got any suggestions about what to do? I figure that all the fluids get changed, air cleaner serviced, any other filters that I can find get changed as well. Plugs and points get a good look, new belts and hoses, grease every zerk that I can find, clean the engine, etc. I think the timing would be a little different at this altitude, something on the range of 4000 feet of altitude difference, but I'm not sure about that. By the way, it came with a set of plows that are set opposite of each other, single big colter, so that you can plow with one, then turn around and plow with the other????? Also has a very banged up 7 foot sickle bar mower. Did have the original disk, that was given away before we got there. Sigh. Anyway, I've got a fun little project for the summer, fixing and painting. I'll let you know how it goes.
