Shape a screen filter about the size of your little finger from an old unused window screen (metal mesh) and place over the nipple, securing it with some (you guessed it) baling wire. The mesh should extend above the nipple an inch or so. This will keep any larger size floating debris from getting into the sediment bowl. Cleaning the tank is best, but this method will get you by until such time as a complete job can be accomplished.
