I got the rear end tore apart Sunday, the left axle outer bearing has the seal on one side like it should have, the right one is open on both sides. I checked prices at 3 places today, C-IH dealer wants 77 bucks for one, I asked how many balls are in that new one, he said "11" the ones in the tractor have 16, the 2 other places had bearings that had a seal on both sides so I couldnt see how many those have in them. My question is: does it matter how many balls are in there? I am tempted to call Rice Equip. out in PA to see if he has original 16 ball bearings, if I can't get a "16 ball", I am tempted to put these back in & over fill the transmission to make sure that bearing gets oiled. What would you guys do?
