If the tractor has not had the electrical components changed recently, you could start by checking what kind of spark you have, weak or strong! New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. New condenser. Check your timing. My 42 A makes gurgling noise when run in the hot weather of summer, nothing to worry about unless your boiling over. Hope this helps a little.
