ok we have been having this problem for 2 summers now ever since we added a 60" mower deck to the 1940 Farmall A. It seems to get hot and wants to quit and then it wont start till it cools down. It will start to get hot and miss and doesn't run smooth and then sometimes after you stop and go to take off it will quit. Then you are dead in the water it wont start (hand cranker only) best case you can tow start it but not always. If it cools down or first starts it will fire up on the first crank 2 on a bad day. The radiator does gurgle after we shut it off like it is warm but I thought it was normal with a thermosyphon. Ok Is it possible the Mag is bad and is getting hot and causing it to run bad? Could it be I still don't have the timing right and I have it to far advanced and it is getting hot? Could I still not have the valves set right? Maybe I should get a new radiator? Could a condensor be causing this? It will fire right up and run but even after you run it for 5-10 minutes or so it will not start back up till you let it it. any ideas? My dad is ready to go buy a different mag for it but I do not think that is the problem???????? Chad
