I'm not sure how the hoses are plumbed with the 3-point but if it is like most hydraulic cylinders you have a fairly long set of hoses compared to the volume of the cylinder itself. You can have an air bubble somewhere in the system between the control valve and the cylinder. If the volume of the cylinder isn't large enough to completely purge the hoses then you won't get the air bubble out. Ususally this goes away by cycling the cylinder several times through full travel. Another opion would be to fill up both sides of the piston in the cylinder along with the hoses before you connect them to the tractor. Other than that you will need to get a response from somebody that has had the hydraulic system apart that might be able to tell you if there is something internal that could be causing this.
