1940 FARMALL H: HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE THIS OLD GAL WAS RUN DAILY? CHANCES ARE YOUR PISTON RINGS ARE SET IN CARBON AND FLASH RUST, SO YOU ARE NOT CREATING A DECENT VACUUM TO PULL IN THE NEEDED FUEL/AIR CHARGE. YOU MAY HAVE TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE, BREAK OUT THE ORIGINAL RING SET ON EACH PISTON AND INSTALL NEW RINGS. CROSS-HATCH EACH CYLINDER LIGHTLY WITH A 3 STONE HONE TO BREAK THE GLAZE AND HELP SEAT IN THE NEW RINGS. I DON'T THINK YOUR PROBLEM IS ON THE ELECTRICAL SIDE THIS TIME. SIT DOWN WITH AN ENGINE MECHANIC GUY AND DISCUSS YOUR PLAN FOR RECOVERING THIS DECENT RIG TO A FULL WORKING STATUS. GOOD LUCK.
