I have had fantastic luck with SeaFoam.
Put a can in with the oil, run it hard for several hours and drain it while hot.
I have also heard of people filling the crankcase with kerosene, pull the coil wire so the tractor will not start and crank the engine till the oil pressure gauge comes up, then drain quickly.
