I have a 350u diesel. it was converted to a GM alternator before I got it and the wiring was all butchered up. Here is what I did. Delco Remy internal regulator alternators have 3 connections, one for output(the bolt lug)and two blade connections (one to excite the rotor and one for the warning light). Now there is 2 ways to connect the blade terminals, through the power switch or from the bolt lug (this is how one wire Delco's are wired). What I did was wire the 2 blades to the lug and ran the output wire to the power switch. Battery power is disconnected when the switch is off and on when the switch is in the run position. On this method you want to turn off the master switch after you kill the engine (diesel only model). If you have a gas engine you need to connect the blade terminals directly to the switch or the engine will continue to run after the master switch is off because the alternator will continue sending power to your coil. Hope this helps.
