Had the same problem with my Super-A transmission. I read and re-read the I&T Shop manual to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Here's a condensed version of what I had to do. 1. remove the spline shaft front bearing cap. 2. Remove the Rivet or whatever is holding the reverse gear on the spline shaft. 3. Bump the spline shaft back towards the rear of the tractor and out. Had a problem with this step as the rear bearing came out and caused clearence problems with the differential. Had to remove the differential to solve this. I don't know if this is something that frequently happens as this is my first tractor. My transmisson case is totally empty at this point and ready for cleaning. I've left my email in case you want to contact me. Good luck.
