Timing Teeth in Pan (1256)

Hate to repost, but this goes along with the 1256 engine post. Took the pan off to find timing teeth in the pan, looks like 3-4 maybe. Did one break off and take the others with it? I had 3-4 bent push rods, so I assume there was a restriction of some kind, but if the teeth got broke first, and then the cam out of time, that would have bent them also. No visible damage to the head, valves or cylinders. The tractor is split, awaiting the engine to be pulled.

Also I was wondering what to replace and what not on these old 407? We were probably doing a complete overhaul, including the head of course, but a lot of guys talk about just doing rings, mains and rods. It is remarkable how little wear is on the sleeves after 10,000 hours.
