Gene, the cub uses a graphite block for a throwout bearing. Look through the acces hole under the clutch and make sure the bearing is pusing the pressure plate fingers down. If the previous owner was a clutch rider he may have worn the face off the throwout. If it is moving the fingers as it shoud try blocking the clutch down and spray some brake cleaner in it every day or two. may take a few days.
