O-Rings on a 624

I seem to have solved a problem - but don't know how? ... had antifreeze in my oil a couple months ago (late winter) which made me think the head-gasket was gone. Talked to my mechanic friend and described the situation - he tells me it is the o-rings which is not uncommon on the D206 (wet sleeve) - big job! Problem is after I had changed the fluids (oil and rad) and have worked it since I have not had any sign of antifreeze in my oil (even after 10 hours of bush-hogging in 85 degree heat last week!) ... probably put on 50 hours since the winter on this tractor ... can these rings pop in and out of place - or am I just buying time here?
