Steve: Yes, your assumption is correct. That one can on rare ocasions play a few tricks on you and you may have to go the whole proceedure. Never hurts to know how. I always found my 656 quite easy, 560 could be a bit more difficult. My 560 was one of the last built in 63 and 656 was a 67 model. Same engine and system but 656 does have some minor improvments.
