Sounds like a coil or condenser as when they get hot and if they are bad they will cause the tractor to cut off as if a switch was cut off or die slowly. If it cranks easily when cool and not when hot then that could be your problem. I dont think you have a coolant problem as if it got that hot and made the engine shut down I think you would know it because the engine would be ruined as CNKS said. Leave the coolant level alone because the overflow tube will blow out what is not needed. Just some tips. My A would seem to die when hot and it was a bad condenser. Coil will do the same thing.
