That is the way all of them were when new and had a mechanical sw mounted on the starter. Over the years starters were changed with replacement starters that were for the C and the C had the post on the brush end and required the same switch but had a pull lever instead of the push one used with your foot on the As and Bs. I have some of you need one. Some starters even had a threaded post done by rebuilders and then required a different type of sw. But the original starters had the button on the end where the BENDIX is and used a push-rod around 9in long and was pushed with your foot.
