I have had good luck drilling a center hole in broken bolts and then taking a tear dropped shaped carbide cutter chucked into a drill. Carefully machine out the remainder of the bolt by wallowing the cutter around, taking care to not get into the threads. Take the correct size tap and carefully cut the remaining bolt threads out of the casting. Do not force the tap but rather rock it back and forth to clear the chips. Remember, if you totally mess it up there is always a HeliCoil to rescue you.
