I don't know if it's reasonable to try to draw parallels between a Regular and an F14, but just as general information: My F14 does NOT have a gasket between the block and the flywheel housing. The rear main bearing does have an oil slinger and guard, with a felt seal that weeps some oil into the flywheel housing and then drips out the weep hole on the bottom. If it's bad enough to be leaking by the block, you will probably have to pull the flywheel cover and check/replace the seal.
