IH 1066

I have an IH 1066 and my brother in law uses it alot more than I do. He says that he has noticed that it it starting to use oil. He says that after he has run the machine bush-hogging etc., that he checks the oil in it after lunch and finds that it is low. He says after the work is done for the day he checks it again and it needs an oil top off. He estimates that it uses about a gallon of oil a week during hard usuage. My question is this: How much oil would this tractor have to use before you think that it would need to be rebuilt?
Currently it runs fine and doesn't seem to be losing any horsepower. Also, what would you think it would cost for an overhaul? Thx, Mitch.
