Lee: to find out what I was dealing with, I miked the end of the steering shaft. It was bunged-up, corroded and a bit out of round, but the average reading I got was around .850, so I concluded the shaft was .875 at one time. The existing threads were of poor quality and seemed to be 20 threads per inch according to a guage I had. Is there a 7/8-20 UNEF thread? With nothing to lose, I first attempted to rethread over the very fine thread with a 7/8-14 thinking that this will bite deep into the existing threads and form (rather crude admittedly) new threads. There wasn't enough material there, but the 7/8-9 did the trick. It's not a perfect fix, but usable. I re-bushed the hole where the shaft enters the dash casting--whatever was there originally was gone. A 7/8 ID x 1 OD bronze flange bushing fixed this slicker than snot on a pump handle. I had to polish the shaft's OD a bit at the area where the bushing was going to go so that the bushing would slip into place over the shaft. This confirmed the shaft's OD as 7/8".

He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
