Tommy, The IH 154 diesel engine is easy to work on, reliable and powerful for its' size. If the 424 is anything like my B414, you are going to be happy with the tractor. Mine does not have power steering, but I could use the workout, so it isn't that big of a deal for me. The specs on the B414 and the 424 should be similar: 45 horse engine, 36 PTO and 32 drawbar. I use 6 foot equipment with mine; brushhog, scraper blade, box blade, disk (although that could be bigger). Three point will pull posts, lift bales on a spear, even pick up the mower so I can sharpen the blades. She is a little bit of a hard start in the winter, but the glow plugs on for a minute usually get the job done. I don't know what the price of the one you are looking at will be, I paid about $2000 for mine and think I got a good deal. It is not pretty, but I don't look for pretty in a tractor, I like brute strength, which is what I got. Hope this helps, keep us posted. UFO Man
