Super M should have the number 264 cast into the right side of th block toward top rear corner. Super should have a small IH emblem on the top of the grill, the M will have a longer "Farmall" badge. Super will have disk brakes with cast iron covers. MOST of the M models will have band brakes with a sheet metal cover. Disk brakes were on the very late M, and some of them - even early ones - came with a Lambert disk brake which is not made like the ones on the Super. Super M has noticeably faster 3rd and 4th gears. If the tractor has live hydraulics and the battery under the seat, it"s likely a Super M. The early Super M did not have the live hydraulic unit. There are some other differences, such as clutch diameter, that aren"t so obvious.
