The original operators manual that I received when I bought my '53 Super M states the following oil weights:
Above 80 deg F - SAE 30W
+80 deg F to +32 deg F -SAE 20W
Below +32 deg F - SAE 10W I don't think I would put a multi weight oil in my engine unless I had done a major overhaul and cleanout so that years of gunk don't get cut loose with the detergemnt oil. Oils have changed over the years, so have engines, but not the engine in my "Super M". I'll stick with the mfr's recommendations - wouldn't want to void the warrantee!
(Incidently the manual also says the same weight schedule should be used in the air cleaner and Lift- All system, did we forget about those?)
