Paul, I just put a tape up to my '49 M, and while the light wasn't the best, it's at least 81" to the top of the steering wheel. Removing the wheel would gain a few inches, but the top of the throttle lever assembly is probably 78" or so. The H and M frames are the same (or nearly the same) length, but tire size will change the overall length and height somewhat; for that matter, so will tire pressure. Don't overlook the width factor. I don't know what the overall width of an M is from axle tip to axle tip, but if the wheels are dished out and it has 13.6 tires on it, you're dealing with almost 8 feet of width; certainly well over 7 feet.
