We had the axles break in our 605D Vermeer years ago. The axles are easy to replace. Just blow a puddle weld out on the front and rear of the axle tub and pull it out. Slide a new axle in and puddle weld it back in place. We opted for the heavier axles they put in the later balers. You have to change the hub and rims to 6 bolt though. We eventually broke both axles.
