Inside the magneto there"s a long tube that looks like it"s a resistor of some sort? With it mounted, and the fan to my right, it"s on the leftmost side of the magneto next to the coil. It"s white and crumbling. It was like that last year when I took the cover off, so I know the water didn"t cause it. Is it normal for it to look like that? I"m guessing the iron core people speak of is what I see moving at the bottom - it has two lobes that snap past every impulse. They look clean, but I don"t know about the side they oppose. What is the normal spark jump distance from directly off the magneto? Like I said in a previous post, mine averages about 1/8". It"s always blueish white, never yellow, but sometimes it seems really strong, and other times I"m lucky to get 3/32". Thanks. ffolkes
