If the battery is still there, count the number of cells (caps) 3 caps = 6 volts, 6 caps = 12 volts. No battery, check the ID plate on the generator. Since you are going to have to rewire the tractor, suggest converting to a 12 volt single wire alternator. Several advertisers on this site sell conversion kits or you can purchase an alternator from the junk yard and do it all yourself. Converting to 12 volt now could save a big head ache - finding out that the generator or regulator are not working. Last regulator cost me $55.00, about two weeks ago.
