Chevy/Ford engines are very common in KS and NE and other areas for irrigation wells. However they are probably detuned, different cam, etc than is used in car/truck engines, and they are operated at a rather low rpm. Most farmers used to use the MM irrigation engines, still some around, but apparantly parts are getting hard to fine. Place I used to work now uses GM 454's on natural gas.
