Gas Cap Question

My dad and I went to a tractor show a couple of weeks ago and as we browsed by the Farmall tractor section we noticed something: There were two different types of gas caps. Tall ones and short ones. They both looked to be made the same, except for the fact that the tall ones were about twice as tall as the short ones. Does anyone what the difference is?
