Hydraulics is a good indicator. Some people have managed to partly convert A's with hydraulics but usually don't manage a complete conversion to a Super A. If any A's came from the factory with hydraulics, it would have been darned few. My B, at 215,xxx is the highest serial A/B I have seen and there is no provision for hydraulics. There are a lot of smaller details that can be checked (e.g. quick attach drawbar, heavy fenders, styled instrument panel). No point going into all of them unless there is some other question about the tractor. If it has been in the family for a long time, it is probably one model or the other, not a messed up combination. There is an exception to the front emblem being the "IH" if and only if it is a Super. The C had the "IH" emblem.
