Looking at a 1586 with 4000 hours!

What methods have you used to determine the condition of the tractor. How did you check the TA and other parts of the tractor. I never owned a red tractor so any comments on how to check the tractor over will be apprecicated. The ad lists the tractor as a 1979 model with 4000 hours. Was there any updates between the 1978 through 1981 models? Thanks
