Well I guess i'll give ya my 2cents. I've painted quite a few old tractors and cars for that matter. I'll keep it simple if you need it more detailed email me and i'll help you further. I sandblast everything but the hood, grill, gas tank. Sand the hood, grill, gas tank with a good da and 80grit. When everythings bare metal do your staightning, filling dents all that. Prime it with any auto primer you choose. Cost wise and the fact i've never had a problem with it, I use good ole laquer primer. Prime every inch of the tractor. I put 5 good coats on. Go back in the morning and block sand the hood, grill, tank. Put two more coats of primer on it. Word of advice, don't get rushed and sand before its completely dry, it takes alot of work to fix it if you do. When thats dry wet sand it with 360 or 400 grit wet or dry paper. When your done your ready for paint. Make sure to wipe it down good with prep sol or a wax and grease remover before every prime or you'll end up like Jeff, ha ha.
