Hi,

The injection pump running out of fuel. The engine will "rev" up somewhat first before it grunts and quits.

It is just like they do when they have air in 'em; except, with the air thing, they will usually 'correct' themselves and stay running.

Again, "Usually", the only time they will just bog and quit is if they have water or gasoline in the system.

In the case of gasoline, they will often "rattle" to beat the band first before they die.
