Is it a pertronix coil? if not, it could not be the right one for the electronic ignition and could be heating up the ignition. If you are sure it is an ignition problem Pertronix help line is very helpful. Look at the little white sticker on the side of the ignition module. If it is discolored the unit is possibly overheating due to a wrong coil. Are you running a resister before the coil? The pertronix needs full voltage to operate.
