Had same problem with my 1942 H it also runs both gas and distillate dose your tractor have butterfly in exaust manafold used to switch over to distillate when the engine got up to temp?mine rusted about about 3/4 of the way shut causing tractor to run hi idle no matter what i did .so i got new exaust manafold changed it out and now tractor idles great. and doesent smoke after starting anymore .
