First off, what makes you think that you have a drain? I don’t understand how are you measuring 5.4 volts on a 12-volt system. Where are you putting your leads to get this reading?

This just sounds like a simple matter of tightening the darned fan belt. Bad alternator bearings don’t squeal, they growl.
