kerosene and distilate are both heavier fuels that will produce slightly more heat units and hence more power under correct conditions. These were cheaper fuels in the old days but new refinery procceses have made for less kerosene and compleatly eliminated distilate fuel. These fuels used a lower compression head and that is why the valves must match the head. It does not matter if you are burning gas now; if you have a kerosene head you must still use kerosene valves. Check the casting number on the head and someone can tell you which head you have.
