Distributor lubrication? Help

I don't understand how my distributors main shaft gets lubricated? If I oil the top of the cam, oil can't get to the main shaft. There is a seal at the bottom of the shaft next to the drive gear, so oil can't come up. ( I thought the seal should have been at the top of the distributor ). So how does the shaft get lubricated? Also, the grease hole is blocked off buy a brass sleve that is in the housing, I suspect from a previous rebuild.

Please enlighten me!
