Hi, I know nothing about Farmall tractors and I am hoping that one of you knowledgeable folks can help me. A neighbor has 3 tractors that are sitting outside his machine shed (and one inside the shed). He is in his 80's and bought all of them new. I was talking to him and said that it is a shame that his equipment is just sitting and rotting in the weather. Well, he is willing to part with one, I think it is a "M", but am not certain. It is a diesel, has 2 fuel tanks. One for starting fuel - gas or kero? The other is the main tank for diesel. It has a narrow front and about worn out tires. The paint is nearly all gone and there is a fine red (rust) patina, but the metal is still solid and nearly all straight. The exhaust manifold is cracked (1/4" wide!) and had been repaired at some point. The 4 speed transmission shifts into all gears. There was no battery and the fuel tanks were bone dry, so it couldn't be started, but the gentleman swears it always has been a good runner. I am guessing that the vinatage is in the 50's, but it is just a guess. So, what is a reasonable offer for a non-working tractor like this? Is the diesel exhaust manifold still available at a reasonable cost? If I buy, blast&paint, fix the issues what would it be worth? Thanks! John_bud

And I think Dad was ready for some automation too. And so it was that we acquired a good, used J. I. Case, wire tie hay baler. In addition to a person to drive th
