Dave: I personally have stated this many times before. As a Vet who has had the pleasure of working side by side with US Forces, I thank God that these brave young men and women are there for all of the free world. Also, I am very thankful that most of the crew of the HMCS Chicoutimi survived as well - seeing as the Brits sold us 4 lemons. Now, here is something else. Canada has delayed the first payment date on the interest from the British War Debt owed to Canada for the 1st and 2nd WW to the year 2050, and the principle doen't have to be fully paid for 100 years after that. They owe us Billions in 1945 dollars!!!! Then they have the nerve to charge us over $800 million for 4 clapped out subs!!!!! Politicians and Corporations at work again. Now as to the Canadian Drugs that the US VA buys. They have to be safe - they mostly are made in the States..... so if they aren't, then the drug companies in the States are the problem, not Canada. Here in Canada, the drugs that are sold to the US VA are the very same drugs that I as a Canadian Vet get. I am still alive - and trust me - I have 6 life threatening illnesses that I have been coping with since 1992 -- I AM STILL ALIVE -- so I guess the drugs are safe eh????? Funny thing though, CNN reports that the US Fed Gov is now looking at buying flu vaccines from Canada cause the vaccines from Chiron in England ARE NOT SAFE!..... I gotta wonder here, since when is the US's oldest friend/ally/neighbour less capable of providing safe drugs than "both of our so-called Mother country"???? I support Bush, but man sometimes I gotta wonder where his head is. When they first made the comment that they had to make sure that Canadian drugs were safe for US consumers, they really HURT and angered a lot of people of up. Then we started questioning the motive. Since most of our drugs are made in the US by US Corporations who are sticking it to you for the drugs that are not exported to us, they must not want the re-importation of their drugs as that would cut their profit margins. Spin is everything stateside, and this isn't going away. Same thing with the lumber dispute. The only ones who want the tarriff's are the US lumber companies. Since the tarriff's have gone in place the average construction price of a house in the states has risen between $3,000.00 and $10,000.00. Soooo my question is - who is making a killing here? Certainly not Canadian lumber producers who have paid 3.8 Billion dollars over the last 2 years in illegal tarriffs. Even the NAFTA resolution panel which is made up of 50%US and 50%Cdn reps, has stated 3 times it was illegal. Had Bush done anything about that? No! Course, did Clinton? No! The only people who are not hurting on the US side of the border is the Large Corporations. On the Canadian side - we are ALL hurting. So, when it comes to the question of safety, it is really a question of profit. It is unfortunate that the little guy on both sides of the border is getting shafted. Just me opinion mind you Again. Thank you to all those brave men and women who serve in your Armed Forces. Oh, also a thank you to the Canadians who are serving embedded within or alongside the US Forces. God Bless one and all

The Great Escape - by Dave Hollrah. It all began Monday with a little baling of second crop on the lake shore field, and as I drove out past my sister and her hubby's place, this small calling sound could be heard from the general direction of their manure pile. Out of the yard, over the cows and bale piles, through the dozer piles, poplars, and brush, out onto the ditch grade road, past the noisy 6.2 diesel engine pulling my well traveled Suburban along. Well it sure didn't take me long to figure out what it was because I alrea
