If it's the the shorter brass tube for the idle circuit - the one that is positioned 90 degrees from the flat surface of the body of the carb - I would clean out the passages but not try to remove it. I've heard from a few sources that it's easy to mess up both the tube and the threads it screws into so, if you can get the passages clean, that should be enough. My 2 cents.
