Hi Bob, At first, the throttle shaft would not move at all but I gave a harder tug and now it does move freely. It may be binding on the carb as you suggested. The alt has two field terminals (2-wires) which plug into an inlet like this: ||. The regulator is not anything like a six volt reg. It is approximately 1 inch by 1 1/2 inch by 3/8 inch deep and has four wires coming from it. One to bat, one to ground, two to the field inlet on the alt (the 2 field wires form a plug which fits the alternator inlet.) The first 5 minutes the motor is running the ammeter needle is to the right of zero between 10 and 20, after a few minutes it drops and the needle stays just to the right of zero. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for all your help. Tony
