Good thing it was "kicking the mower off," or you'd eventually destroy the pump. It's only designed to run itself, not a mower too, especially a bush hog. The PTO itself is not meant to be used that way either. You can run one or the other, not both. So you either have hydraulics for your 3pt, or you drive the bush hog. Finding a live pump will be expensive, and more than likely difficult. Does your tractor have the belly pump?
