Dont know of any advantages other than originality,no need to change bulbs or anything else for that matter.
12 volt for me,wasnt too much of an option.6 volt batteries are a little harder to find around here without driving 50 miles each way to get one or pay the price these folks want for them.Plus I know I can jump it off if I ever have to,and itll start easier.I have never burnt up a starter,or have had to change anything other than the occasional bulb,havent fried a coil either.Some say a properly maintained 6 volt is just as good.
