Some more advantages, 12 volt lights are easy to find, 6 volt ones aren't. If you ever run equipment lights off tractor system, like I do with baler, most are 12 volt. Generally when you go to 12 volt you also change to an alternator and they put out a lot more juice if you do run lots of lights. Folks say the 6 volt system will work just as good as 12 volt if kept up right, heavy battery cables and all. That may be true but with a long run, like from a battery under the seat to the starter, you need a really heavy cable with 6 volts, not so with 12. I like the way my SMTA starts quickly with the 12 volts. My feeling is that if you are after originality all the way stay with 6 volts, if it is a "user" the 12 volt setup works better. If you do change over you may want to keep the 6 volt parts anyway incase you sell it some day or 6 volt systems come back into use.
