cub transmission

hi there i just baught a farmall cub and the owner said that the transmission was not shifting into reverse i removed the shifter, cover, and the slide for the reverse and first gear are broken i purchased the new slidder but i am not sure how they go in do i have to split the tractor in half or can they be put in from the rear or can they go in from the top please let me know thanks much for the help i also purchased the slidder for the 2nd and 3rd gears if anybody has any info on how to do this please email me with it or any book i might be able to purchase all info helfull thanks much gerald
