When I had adjustable tappets I would check the clearance once a year. Most engines use hydraulic lifters now and some of them aren't adjustable. I had them on a 66 Mustang, 68 Mercury and the 2.5L GM engine used in their cars. The cams in the Farmalls must have been pretty good I never found one with a lobe worn off. The 54 Ford and the 58 Chevy were known for lobes wearing off. The 54 Ford's went during the first 12000 miles. Too bad cars didn't have sleeves. Hal
