If you gear up and throttle back you saves on fuel. I pull my 4440 that way all the time. Somthing you can try for yourself, when you are at full throttle and you hit a tuff spot start pulling the throttle back, see how far you pull it back before you catch up with the engine rpm. Then leave it there you will still pull the tuff spot. If a tractor is under a load at say seven mph at full throttle then pull the throttle back to run six in the same gear will save you fuel. It's the one mph speed that's is taking so much hp. and fuel. Or if I can run my 4440 in B2 geat at six mph at full throttle I shift up to C2 gear and throttle back to six mph. to save fuel. Anytime you can run the engine at a slower rpm you will save fuel.
