Farmall, The cork gasket is right behind the large heavy washer that the cap screw went through. It may have come off with the washer and you didn't see it. It should show signs of imprint of the end of bull pinion shaft. I used a gear puller (with reversible fingurs)to get my seals out but you need one that's small enough to get in behind the seal to grab the inside rim of the seal(s). BTW where are you?
